Mayor proclaims 'Jason Kronsberg Day' as parks official moves to Conservancy

Mayor William S. Cogswell Jr. opened the April 23 council meeting by reading a proclamation naming April 23, 2026, as Jason Kronsberg Day, recognizing Kronsberg’s 16 years of service on city parks and capital projects.

The proclamation credited Kronsberg with helping to shape the city’s green spaces and projects that “will benefit the community for years to come.” Kronsberg then addressed the council and attendees, thanking city staff, project managers and volunteers and saying he was “appreciative and humbled” as he transitions to a role with the Charleston Parks Conservancy. The proclamation and Kronsberg’s remarks noted the Conservancy’s mission to cultivate public gardens and experiences in City of Charleston parks and anticipated continued partnerships between the Conservancy, the city and neighborhoods.

Kronsberg said the Conservancy board, volunteers and donors had been “incredible” and described plans to reinvigorate park stewardship over the next decades. The mayor told Kronsberg the city would announce further recognition, and Kronsberg closed by thanking staff and council members for their support.

The presentation was ceremonial; no council action followed. The council then moved to the public‑hearing portion of the agenda.
