The Patchogue‑Medford Board of Education acknowledged and accepted interim superintendent Lori Kanetti's notification of retirement at its March 30 meeting. The administration said Kanetti will leave the district at the end of the school year, effective June 30, 2026, after 27 years of service in a variety of district roles.
"I've had an honor over the last 27 years serving this community... Ending my career as the interim superintendent has been an honor and a privilege," the interim superintendent said, reflecting on her tenure and the district's work.
Trustees praised Kanetti's service during board comments. Several trustees expressed gratitude for her decades of work and noted community opportunities to thank her in upcoming meetings. The board announced it will introduce the new superintendent at the April 20 meeting and hold a public meet‑and‑greet; the final regular board meeting of the school year is scheduled for June 30.
The retirement notice was accepted as part of the consent agenda earlier in the evening. No substantive policy changes or personnel actions related to the superintendent position were taken during the March 30 meeting; the board scheduled public engagement around the leadership transition.
