Lake County supervisors approved a resolution to increase the county’s reserve cancellation and disaster response funding by $250,000 for the response to the Robin Lane sewage release, bringing the total appropriation to $2,000,000 for response and recovery.
Assistant CAO Stephen Carter said known payments to date total about $1,568,000, with additional known costs of roughly $191,000; staff also noted there remain invoices still trickling in and the $250,000 increase is intended to cover remaining testing, installations and related response work.
Supervisor Sabatier and others pressed for transparency and asked for an itemized spreadsheet showing how the already‑spent $1,750,000 was allocated. Residents who testified — including a directly impacted resident who said it has been 100 days since the spill — urged continued funding coupled with clearer accounting and public engagement, including town halls.
The board voted unanimously to adopt the resolution increasing the reserve cancellation and disaster response fund allocation (motion carried 5–0). Members requested staff post a generalized, itemized spreadsheet of expenditures and to attach it to the continued emergency‑declaration item when it returns for further action.
The board also discussed anticipatory costs such as water testing, filtration replacements and installations; staff said some costs (filters, UV bulb replacements) were intended to extend the life of distributed units and protect affected households.
The resolution passed 5–0; staff will return with prepared findings and the requested spending breakdown at a follow‑up time certain.
