Medford board approves second readings of policies and edits staff handbook increments to 15 minutes

The Medford Area Public School District Board approved second readings of several policies and authorized editorial changes to the Professional Staff Handbook at its Feb. 21 meeting.

A motion from the Policy Committee approved second-reading adoption for listed items including BFG (Policy Review & Evaluation), BHB (Board Member Development Opportunities), BHD (Board Member Compensation & Expenses), and RVA-BBA (Governance Board Powers & Duties). The motion carried.

Separately, the board approved an editorial update to the Professional Staff Handbook to change the increments for leave-taking to 15-minute intervals (motion Fleegel/Dixon). The board also reviewed a list of policies presented for first reading — including RVA-BBAB (Charter Education), RVA-BDDH (Public Participation at RVA Governance Board Meetings), RVA-EEA (Student Transportation), RVA-IFD (Curriculum Adoption), RVA-IGADA (Work Experience Opportunities), RVA-IGCD (Start College Now/Early College Credit Program), and RVA-IKF (Graduation Requirements) — which will return for later consideration.
