The Medford Area Public School District board adjourned to closed session on Jan. 24 under Wis. Stat. §19.85(1)(c) to consider administrator employment matters, then reconvened and approved one‑year renewals of administrative contracts on a motion (Wibben/Dixon).
Earlier in the meeting District Administrator Pat Sullivan updated the board on a proposed dome project and a FEMA grant application; Sullivan said area businesses have pledged financial support if the district is awarded the grant and that the grant application would be submitted Jan. 25, 2022. Erica from Findorff briefed the board on how Findorff will support referendum communications.
The board also received a finance committee update from Brian Hallgren and approved a recommended support and professional staff pay scale. Clerk Cheryl Wibben certified candidates for the 2022 spring election: Aemus Balsis, Cheryl Wibben, Cory Dassow, Kurt Werner and Fred Ebert. Members who attended the Wisconsin Association of School Boards convention — John Zuleger, Steve Deml, Laura Lundy and Jodi Nuernberger — shared takeaways. The board approved second‑reading policy items as presented and moved first‑reading items forward for future consideration.
The meeting adjourned at 9:09 p.m.
