County drainage authority sets multiple ditch hearings and amends lien interest rates

Drainage management staff briefed the Blue Earth County Drainage Authority on April 21 and the board set several upcoming hearings and approved interest-rate adjustments.

Staff said JD 15 repair work (Larson Contracting) is complete and requested a contract acceptance hearing on 05/26/2026 at 9 a.m.; the board set that hearing. Staff also requested the board set a hearing for the detailed survey and viewers report on Judicial Ditch 33 for 05/26/2026 and set a redetermination-of-benefits hearing for County Ditch 64 on the same date and time.

Drainage staff also recommended amendments to the annual interest rate for multi-year drainage liens crossing two systems (staff presented motions to amend interest rates for County Ditch 86 and Judicial Ditch 14). The board approved the motions by voice vote and directed each ditch to receive its own county-board motion as recommended.

Next steps: staff will publish hearing notices and proceed with the scheduled hearings and record the amended lien interest rates for the specified payable years.
