Boone County Highway updates: roundabout construction, resurfacing and short‑term closures ahead

Boone County Highway staff provided a construction and traffic update on April 13, warning residents and motorists about short‑term closures and upcoming projects this construction season.

Kim Harris of the highway department notified the board that a roundabout at 400 East and 100 South is scheduled to begin on or after April 27 and is expected to last roughly 150 days (to about October). County Road 280 West will be closed at the intersection of 200 South for approximately three days, and County Road 200 South/State Road 39 traffic patterns will change back to one‑way westbound at the indicated intersection. Harris also said micro‑surfacing work (project 2026‑03) is expected to begin around April 23 in various townships and countywide striping crews would begin lining roads the same day.

Harris told residents the official detour route and a full construction schedule are posted on the Boone County Highway Department website and on the department’s Facebook page.
