Southlake Mayor Sean McCaskill opened the April 21 council meeting with a slideshow tribute and awards honoring Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Talley and Mayor Pro Tem Randy Williamson for their multi‑year service to the city. The mayor thanked both for leadership on boards, commissions and events, and presented gifts from U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz’s office.
Council members and city staff offered remarks in a series of short tributes. Councilmember comments emphasized Talley’s community leadership — including Arts in the Square, Meals on Wheels and youth engagement — and Williamson’s decades of volunteer service and mentorship. City Manager Allison Orkowski told the dais that staff described Talley as “detail oriented” and Williamson as “thoughtful” and “supportive.”
Talley, who said she plans to run again in the spring, thanked family, campaign staff and community partners and noted the personal connections she’s made while serving. Williamson reflected on 12 years on council and multiple appointed roles in the city, described the “honor” of public service and said he plans to remain active in community events. Both participated in a photo presentation and a reception following the meeting.
The recognition concluded before the council moved into regular session and the mayor called for the meeting’s business items to proceed.
