The Colorado Senate Education Committee unanimously recommended three higher‑education appointments to the full Senate on the committee’s busiest agenda day.
President Brad Baca of Western Colorado University introduced Scott Ehrlich for a seat on the university’s board of trustees. Ehrlich said he was “honored and humbled” to serve and recalled his positive experiences at the institution. The committee moved his nomination and approved it by unanimous voice vote.
Colorado State University System Chancellor Tony Frank recommended Kayla Garcia for the CSU System Board of Governors. Garcia, who identified herself as a Pueblo native and a CSU alumna and currently serves as president and CEO of Girls Inc. Metro Denver, described her career in community relations and nonprofit leadership and said higher education transformed her life. The committee voted unanimously to advance her nomination.
Chancellor Marielena DeSanctis introduced Jennifer Allison for the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education. Allison described 24 years in K–12 education and career and technical education leadership and said she would bring a practical, student‑centered perspective to the board. Senators moved and unanimously recommended her nomination to the full Senate.
All three confirmations were processed under the committee’s consent procedures; committee members offered brief remarks praising the nominees’ experience and community ties. Each nominee will now await floor action by the full Senate.
