Fulshear council approves $2.3 million contract for Harris Street reconstruction

The Fulshear City Council voted unanimously April 21 to award Agreement No. 2026‑015 for Harris Street Reconstruction Phase 2 in the amount of $2,300,000.

Staff told the council that bids were opened March 31 and that the lowest responsive bidder was selected; the approved award reflects staff’s recommendation and a planned May budget amendment to fund select change‑order work. A city representative said a Notice to Proceed is targeted for May 7, which would put substantial completion in late January and yield a construction period of roughly six months.

Council members stressed expediting work on the pedestrian plaza component of the project. One member asked for the project timeline and was told by staff the contractor plans a relatively compact construction schedule and would prioritize the pedestrian plaza early in the sequence.

The council moved, seconded and voted to approve the agreement. No recorded roll‑call tally was provided at the meeting minutes beyond an affirmative vote and the mayor’s announcement that the motion passed.

The action clears the way for procurement and coordination on traffic control, utilities relocation and the pedestrian plaza; staff said they expect to return with any required change orders after the May budget amendment.
