EDC outlines entrepreneurial programs, Fulshear Follies event and May budget schedule; May meeting may be rescheduled

Annelle delivered the economic development report during the April 20 meeting, covering board and commission application deadlines, the budget calendar and community events.

She said board and commission applications were due April 17 and that the EDC will present mid-year budget reports in May, a draft budget in June and adopt the budget in July, including required public hearings. Annelle recapped a three-part entrepreneurial workshop series that began the prior weekend and said the second workshop will be on Sept. 12 at Irene Stern; she also previewed a standalone Entrepreneur Resource Fair (potentially 9 a.m.–noon) that will include panels and advisors on app creation, websites, marketing and finance.

Annelle announced the Fulshear Follies will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and asked the board to mark their calendars. She also noted that she and Hayden will attend ICSC in Las Vegas during the week of the board's May meeting and asked whether the board preferred rescheduling or canceling May's meeting; staff will circulate alternate dates for a quorum check.

Board members offered minor operational feedback on workshop format and suggested evening options for future sessions to accommodate working entrepreneurs. No action was taken; staff will follow up with scheduling options and marketing material.
