Diane Collison, executive director of the Fayette County Family Resource Network, presented a summer-directory and described Project Adventure during the board's April 21 meeting.
Collison said Project Adventure brings fourth- and fifth-grade students to the county park for activities designed to introduce them to local programs and spark continued participation; the directory will go home with fourth- and fifth-grade students to link park experiences with summer events run by local presenters. "Project Adventure is where we bring all the fourth and fifth graders from the county to our county park to introduce them to activities," Collison said, and she invited board members to attend.
Board members asked logistical questions and Collison provided details on bus arrival times and volunteer involvement. The presentation emphasized keeping recruitment and delivery within Fayette County organizations where possible.
Separately during the meeting, Delegate Elliot Pritt presented a legislative citation recognizing coach Gary Ray for decades of service to Fayette County Schools and the WVSSAC; Cindy Ray accepted the citation on his behalf.
