Resident urges Napa City Council to use Measure P funds for neighborhood parking signs

Jim McNamara, who submitted a speaker card and addressed the council during public comment on April 21, asked the city to consider investing a small portion of Measure P funds to install neighborhood parking signs to reduce hazardous parking behaviors.

"Could a tiny little bit of that money maybe be invested in making a couple of signs for certain neighborhoods, such as no parking in driveways... no parking on corners... no parking at fire hydrants... no parking on lawns... no parking of detached trailers," McNamara told the council, saying his neighborhood lacks safe parking and that the corner visibility is dangerous.

A council member identified in the meeting as Narvaez spoke after public comment and said he supported McNamara's request, noting he has known McNamara for decades and urging city departments such as Public Works to look into the issue.

The council did not take action on the request during the meeting; it was raised as a public comment matter and the City Clerk noted the resident's email submission. No staff commitment or formal referral was recorded in the open meeting minutes.
