The Vinton City Council approved two routine but operational items at its Dec. 26 meeting: procurement of new inclusive playground equipment for BL Anderson Park and a design and hosting contract with iROC Web Design Services to rebuild the city website.
Staff explained the playground at BL Anderson Park is more than 25 years old and some play elements failed the annual safety inspection. The proposed replacement includes inclusive features (described in the meeting as an all-inclusive merry-go-round), installation of rubber surfacing to replace sand, and a planned community build with the Lions Club. The council approved the procurement after a motion and roll-call vote; staff said funds were included in the current budget and expected delivery in early April with community installation to follow.
On the website, the clerk/staff (S2) said the iROC web design contract was budgeted for the current fiscal year and that the vendor has experience working with municipal websites. The council voted by roll call to enter the design and hosting contract.
Why it matters: The playground replacement addresses safety and accessibility at a neighborhood park; the website contract updates the city’s public-facing services and information delivery.
What’s next: Staff expects delivery of playground equipment in early April and will coordinate a community build; website work will proceed per the vendor contract and timeline.
