City confirms CDBG award for 500 West trenchless sewer rehabilitation

Mayor Mark C. Allen opened a public hearing on April 21 for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) project awarded to the city. Grant Manager Amy Rodriguez and Project Manager Jake Meibos explained the city amended its capital investment plan to apply on behalf of the 500 West Trenchless Sewer Rehabilitation Project, which covers 1,735 linear feet of a 12-inch concrete sewer main on 500 West between 4800 South and 4400 South.

Rodriguez and Meibos reported the project was successful in regional rating and ranking and was awarded $215,795 toward a total project cost of $350,886. Council Member Cheryl Parkinson asked whether streets would be impacted; Meibos said the trenchless rehabilitation will not involve digging or tearing up the road. The mayor said copies of the capital investment plan are available to attendees. The public hearing closed with no citizen comments.
