Staff to inventory LEOFF‑1 medical/disability boards; estimate ~70 local boards found online

Aaron Gutierrez, committee staff, told the panel the effort to locate local disability and medical boards is in an early resource‑gathering phase and may require contacting every city and county. "Just googling it offhand, I immediately came up with, you know, somewhere around, like, 70 of them right off the bat," Gutierrez said, noting that he has been reaching out to DRS, LNI and associations of cities and counties for assistance.

Gutierrez said there is no comprehensive list yet and that assembling spending data and membership counts will likely take time. He proposed returning to the committee next month with an update on contacts, data sources and an initial inventory so members can prioritize follow‑up work.

The chair and other members emphasized the importance of knowing how many boards exist, who they serve and what the cost implications are for cities and counties; members asked staff to include local governments and retiree groups in the outreach.
