Council reduces CUP amendment fee for dermatology clinic and approves parking-entrance variance

The Brainerd City Council approved a pair of planning actions on April 20. The personnel and finance committee moved to reduce the commercial conditional-use-permit (CUP) amendment fee for Central Minnesota Dermatology to $100 because the business had previously paid $500 for the original CUP and staff time for the amendment was limited; the council approved the reduction.

Later, community development director James Krambeck described a variance request for 411 Laurel Street to expand a parking-lot entrance to a 40-foot distance from the intersection where code requires 60 feet. The city engineer reviewed the site and had no concerns; the planning commission had unanimously recommended approval. The council voted to approve the variance as presented.

Both actions were routine approvals recorded during the council’s new and unfinished business items.

Council also approved nominations to several commissions by voice vote, including Jennifer Milton to the Transportation Advisory Committee and James Kramer to the Planning Commission.
