The City of Edgerton Common Council on Jan. 19 adopted the updated Comprehensive Plan and approved $3,438,800.35 in bills and payroll and a series of related motions. Mayor Christopher Lund called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.; City Clerk Wendy Loveland confirmed the agenda was posted on Jan. 16, 2026.
The council recorded unanimous votes among present members (Michelle Crisanti, Candy Davis, Jim Burdick and Lisa Venske) on several procedural and substantive items. Council member Candy Davis moved to approve the Finance Committee recommendation to pay bills and payroll totaling $3,438,800.35; the motion, seconded by Jim Burdick, passed on a 4/0 roll-call vote. The minutes do not specify the funding sources behind that total.
Other finance items approved included a Temporary Class B Beer/Wine License for the FFA Alumni for an event on Feb. 7, 2026 (motion by Candy Davis, seconded by Jim Burdick; passed 4/0), and declaring a 2021 Ford Interceptor police squad surplus with a minimum bid set at $12,000 (moved by Candy Davis, seconded by Lisa Venske; passed 4/0). The council also approved the purchase of a replacement squad car from Ewald Automotive Group for $45,216 (moved by Candy Davis, seconded by Lisa Venske; passed 4/0) and a legal services agreement with Murphy Desmond for city attorney services (moved by Candy Davis, seconded by Lisa Venske; passed 4/0).
On planning matters, the council introduced and approved first readings of two zoning-related ordinances. City of Edgerton Ordinance 26-02, amending the Official Zoning Map for a property on County Hwy F south of Fassett Cemetery, passed first reading on a 4/0 roll-call vote (motion by Candy Davis, seconded by Jim Burdick). Ordinance 26-03, which amends sections of the land-use code related to multiple principal structures and group developments, also passed first reading on a 4/0 vote (motion by Jim Burdick, seconded by Lisa Venske).
The council then approved the second reading and final adoption of Ordinance 26-01, the City of Edgerton Comprehensive Plan Update (motion by Lisa Venske, seconded by Jim Burdick; passed 4/0). The adoption updates the city's planning framework for land use and development in Edgerton and the areas of Rock and Dane counties covered by the plan.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that passed unanimously. City Clerk Wendy Loveland signed the minutes as recorded.
