Chase City Elementary construction reaches major milestones; substantial completion slated for April 2027

Mr. Dalton provided the board with a construction update on the new Chase City Elementary School, highlighting recent site milestones and the project schedule.

"Construction progresses; we've completed the stormwater retention pond," Dalton said, noting slab-on-grade concrete pours have begun and work is transitioning to vertical construction, including walls and building systems. He said advanced site work has progressed on grading, parking and underground utilities and that mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins are underway.

Dalton reported owner direct-purchase tax savings to date of $184,950 and listed upcoming direct purchases planned for flooring, glazing, roofing, brick masonry and technology. He reiterated schedule targets: a substantial completion date of 04/08/2027 and final completion scheduled for 06/15/2027.

Board members thanked staff for the update and emphasized the need to maintain new facilities. No formal action was required on the project update; the item was presented for the board's information as part of the superintendent's report.
