Davis County OKs UDOT cooperative agreement and $202,487 asphalt work for West Davis Trail

Davis County commissioners on April 21 approved a cooperative agreement with the Utah Department of Transportation to maintain the West Davis Highway Trail and authorized $202,487 in asphalt work to extend the trails life.

Kent Anderson told the commission the UDOT agreement includes a receivable of $83,200 to reimburse county repairs to the Legacy Trail caused during West Davis Highway construction. "This does have a receivable associated with it in the amount of 83,200," he said, describing the reimbursement arrangement.

The commission also approved a payable purchase order to Anderson Asphalt for $202,487 to perform surface treatment, crack sealing and other asphalt improvements. Anderson noted the county received a $250,000 Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant that will help pay for maintenance work, and the county will use Prop 1 transportation funds for the remainder.

Syracuse City will maintain the Immigrant Trail portion north of Gentile, Anderson said, and the cooperative agreement covers the segment where the Legacy Trail turns into the West Davis Highway trail. The commission approved both items by voice vote.

Next steps include finalizing the agreement language with UDOT and issuing the purchase order; work is scheduled to begin in spring and continue through November 30, 2026.
