Committees approve multiple contracts, change orders and a sanitation budget amendment

On April 13, the Budget & Finance and Community Development & Public Services committees approved numerous resolutions and routine procurement items, including intergovernmental and vendor contracts, equipment purchases and several construction change orders.

Key outcomes included approval of an intergovernmental agreement to fund operation and maintenance of the Bayou Shaan flood‑protection structure; purchase of Zoom Phone subscriptions under state contract number 440010663 through CaraSoft Technology; approval of the lowest quote from Juno Marine Refrigeration & Air Conditioning to replace a chiller at the Housing & Human Services Department; award of warehouse electrical material contract 26WHSE09 to Westco Distribution and Gresco Utility Supply; purchase of four 6‑inch trailer‑mounted pumps to Advanced Industrial Products; and approval of a change order for additional repairs at the Tony Cavallo ballpark after unforeseen structural and electrical damage was discovered.

The committees also introduced an ordinance to amend the 2026 operating budget for sanitation in the amount of $56,314 and set a public hearing for Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. Most motions passed unanimously; one HVAC renovation item recorded an abstention but still carried.

Several engineering and construction change orders were approved to proceed with parish projects including gas‑line improvements, courthouse HVAC renovations, and drainage work for Alma to West Park. Staff stated procurement and change‑order approvals follow standard competitive or sole‑source procedures where noted.

Next steps: Public hearing scheduled for the sanitation budget amendment on April 29; staff will complete contract signatures and process payments according to procurement rules.
