Council confirms appointments, approves consent items and authorizes land purchase for Southside fire station

At its April 20 meeting the Rockwall City Council made multiple routine approvals: Mayor Pro Tem Mueller moved to appoint Ashley Griswold to the Main Street Advisory Board to replace Jeffrey Lyons (term through Aug. 2028); the motion was seconded and approved unanimously. Mueller also moved to reappoint Rick Crowley to the North Texas Municipal Water District for a two‑year term beginning June 1, 2026; that reappointment passed unanimously.

The council approved the consent agenda with item 2 pulled for separate consideration. After discussion the council later voted 6–1 to approve consent agenda item Z2026‑008 (an ordinance amending the UDC to allow a single‑family infill home on a 0.15‑acre tract); Mayor Pro Tem Mueller dissented on that vote.

Mayor Pro Tem Mueller also moved to authorize the city manager to finalize negotiation and purchase land in the Southside District to support a new fire station and authorized the city attorney to prepare closing documents. The council approved the land‑purchase authorization unanimously. Mayor Tim McCallum congratulated staff and the fire chief on moving the project forward.

These actions complete the council’s routine business and advanced the city’s capital plan for the Southside District fire station.
