Director: March inspection found no solid-waste violations after severe winds and tornado

The director told the Washington County solid waste board that an inspection held at 10:00 a.m. on March 16 found no violations after the county experienced straight-line winds and an early-morning tornado earlier that weekend. "There were no violations during that inspection," the director said.

The director described that the Friday before the inspection brought about 80-mile-an-hour straight-line winds and that a tornado came through early on March 16, which scattered debris across the site. Inspectors recorded blown litter present at the time of the visit but noted it was "being actively collected," the director said.

Board members and staff discussed the weather context and cleanup efforts during the report. The director said the inspection report had been shared by email and reiterated that the lack of formal violations reflected the outcome of that on-site review rather than the absence of storm-related debris.

The report was delivered during the regular solid waste meeting; no formal enforcement action was announced. The director also noted a scheduling item later in the meeting and requested a change to the June meeting date.
