The Bryan Planning and Zoning Commission scheduled a joint workshop with the City of College Station Planning and Zoning Commission for Friday, June 11, to be held in Bryan’s council chambers, staff said.
Staff member (Speaker 5) told commissioners the meeting will be hosted by Bryan, likely run around the lunch hour (around 11 a.m. to 1–2 p.m.), and that lunch will be provided. The session is intended as a forum for both commissions to share recent initiatives and for commissioners to suggest topics to include on the agenda.
Commissioners suggested possible topics during the meeting. Speaker 3 proposed comparing building permit activity; other suggestions included discussion of the innovation corridor, Midtown-area updates, the ongoing comprehensive plan, Leonard Road updates and collaboration in the South College area. Staff asked commissioners to email Allison with additional ideas.
Why it matters: Joint workshops give neighboring commissions the chance to coordinate on cross-border issues such as transportation corridors, rezonings and growth areas. Staff said the session is intended as a mix of updates and discussion rather than a decision-making meeting; any items that require formal action would return to each commission and city council through the regular review process.
Next steps: Staff will circulate logistics and a proposed agenda, and commissioners were asked to submit agenda topics to Allison by email.
