A representative from Options for Youth briefed the Adelanto City Council May 22 on the charter network’s programs, partnerships and student supports, and said the school would consider opening a local campus when state restrictions allow.
Options for Youth staff described the program as WASC‑accredited, year‑round and flexible, serving middle and high‑school students with a combination of independent study and small group instruction. The presenter said the charter network operates several High Desert locations and enrolls more than 1,200 students across the region, offering career pathways, internships, sports and senior ceremonies.
The presenter noted a current state moratorium on opening new charter campuses, saying a reopening of that process could allow an Adelanto campus in future years. A school representative also said students ride Victor Valley Transit Authority buses for free under an agreement with the transit agency.
Council members praised the program’s career and financial‑literacy offerings and discussed potential partnerships, internships with local employers, and transportation links for students. Mayor Reyes and other council members thanked the presenters and said they will follow up about possible local collaboration and campus options.
Next steps: Council members and Options for Youth agreed to follow up offline about internships, summer intersession opportunities, and steps needed to explore a local campus when state law permits.
