Snoqualmie council schedules vacancy interviews for May 6; excuses member at special meeting

The Snoqualmie City Council met in special session April 16 and handled procedural business related to a council vacancy. The mayor relayed that Council member Wotton had requested to be excused from the meeting because he was out of state; a motion to excuse (moved by Council member Holloway and seconded by Council member Washington) passed and the mayor noted the member was excused.

The council then approved the meeting agenda (moved by Council member Johnson and seconded by Council member Washington) by voice vote. The mayor reminded attendees that state law governing special meetings limits the council to discussing only previously noticed matters, so no final appointment or other un-noticed action could be taken.

Regarding the vacancy, the mayor said interviews for applicants would be moved to May 6 at 5:00 p.m.; the mayor stated the council had discussed the change and intended to hold interviews on that date. The mayor also said any interview and final action appointing a candidate to elective office must be conducted in a public meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m. after a motion by Council member Holloway, seconded by Council member Johnson.
