Norfolk County approves Edward Byrne JAG memorandum allocating $54,604 to Quincy and Plymouth

The Norfolk County Commission on March 25 approved a memorandum of understanding to accept and allocate an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant totaling $54,604 to affected municipal police departments.

Commissioner (Speaker 3) moved the agreement, saying, “This grant, is the amount of $38,235 for Quincy, $15,369 for Plymouth. Total grant including administrative fee is $54,604.” The motion was seconded and approved on a voice vote.

The grant MOU was presented as a routine intergovernmental agreement covering eligible municipalities deemed most statistically affected for the grant period. Staff (Speaker 5) explained the listed jurisdictions and confirmed the agreement’s effective date as presented to the commission.

The approval was recorded without a roll-call tally in the transcript and no dissent was recorded. The commission moved on to subsequent agenda items after the voice vote.

The commission’s action authorizes county staff to proceed with implementing the MOU and any administrative steps required to distribute the funds to the named municipalities.
