The Barnesville City Council authorized steps to transfer the city's Electric Shop property to the Downtown Development Authority to pursue redevelopment prospects.
At a Jan. 15 special called meeting council members unanimously gave the city attorney permission to transfer the deed for the Electric Shop to the Downtown Development Authority to move forward with a potential prospect. At the Feb. 2 regular meeting the council approved a memorandum of understanding that transfers the Electric Shop from the city to the Downtown Development Authority with terms as discussed in the MOU, including the property's relationship to a prospective Fox City Brewery Company project.
Council action was unanimous in both meetings. City Attorney John O'Neal represented the city in these discussions; the MOU was approved to permit the Downtown Development Authority to proceed with negotiations and related work on the property.
The council did not include a sale price or other transaction financial details in the public minutes recorded in the transcript; follow-up action and terms are to be handled by the Downtown Development Authority in coordination with the city attorney.
