Canton council adopts a package of water, sewer and capital ordinances and change orders

Canton City Council approved a block of infrastructure, loan and procurement ordinances covering water, sewer and treatment projects.

Key items adopted by roll call include ordinances authorizing the mayor or director of public service to apply for, accept and enter into Water Pollution Control Loan Fund agreements for planning, design and/or construction associated with:

- West Tuscarora Street safety project (Ord. 15, GP1165)
- Elgin Avenue Northwest neighborhood-improvement project (Ord. 16, GP1478)
- Shroyer Avenue Southwest sanitary sewer replacement (Ord. 17, GP1380)
- Navarre Road Southwest trunk sewer project (Ord. 18, GP1491)
- 42-inch Westside interceptor rehabilitation (Ord. 19, GP1442)
- 42-inch Eastside interceptor rehabilitation (Ord. 20, GP1441)

The council also approved ordinances related to the Water Reclamation Facility raw pump replacement (Ord. 21), membrane replacement (Ord. 22) and electrical improvements (Ord. 23). A change order for the Sugar Creek Water Treatment Plant renovation (Ord. 24) was authorized for up to $69,500, and an existing contract change for the STA 11th Street SE improvements (Ord. 25) recorded a net deduct of approximately $14,765 (as read into the record). The council adopted an ordinance authorizing use of a previously established project fund for the Bridal Branch waterline extension in the amount of $720,787.30 (Ord. 26).

Most of these items were adopted without extended debate; roll-call tallies in the transcript show unanimous or near-unanimous support on the floor for each ordinance. The council also adopted a number of related resolutions and referrals to committees as listed on the evening agenda.
