Conservation commission approves order of conditions for 14 Bassett Road and issues several certificates of compliance

The Nantucket Conservation Commission approved an order of conditions for work at 14 Bassett Road and voted to issue certificates of compliance for multiple properties during its April 16 meeting.

Staff described the 14 Bassett Road order as permitting removal of an existing pool, construction of a new pool, porch and deck reconfiguration, hardscape removal, installation of an outdoor kitchen, garden and bocce court, relocation of an existing garage with related utilities, grading and landscaping within buffer zones. Staff read the standard conditions, including lighting restrictions (conditions 18–20), pool conditions (21–25), and a planting requirement that "all planting shall be native species with no cultivars allowed." The order was approved as amended by a motion and roll‑call vote.

Staff also recommended issuing certificates of compliance for several properties; the commission voted to issue the certificates and noted one ongoing condition for 6 Harbor Terrace (SE482553) maintaining condition 19 prohibiting irrigation or fertilizer within commission jurisdiction. Commissioners emphasized contractor responsibilities such as designating an employee to perform daily debris sweeps and proper off‑site disposal of refuse during demolition or construction work.

The items were approved by roll call and recorded as carried unanimously.
