Market staff told the advisory commission that contracted repairs to damaged market columns and replacement of bolts are expected to begin in May and that crews will not work on Wednesdays, Saturdays or Sundays to avoid market days.
S2 said permitting is nearly complete and that the project received emergency clearance to proceed on a quick timeline. Commissioners asked whether concrete around certain columns (for example near stall 92) would be repaired; S2 said park operations could add concrete repairs to the contractor's scope but noted timing remains unclear.
On nearby development, S2 said the developer agreement for 303 Detroit has been signed and the developer will install a fencing barrier for staging "really soon." Staff warned that some sidewalk closures may be necessary for staging and that the site will require coordination with market load-in and customer flow; S2 and Remy Long will meet the Brown Court redevelopment team on April 22 to get specifics about the water-main replacement and a more concrete building timeline.
Vendors asked staff to encourage developers to tighten construction time frames and to plan for pedestrian routing; staff said they would advocate for minimized disruption and manage walkways and load-outs so customer access and vendor load-out are safe.
Staff did not present a final construction schedule at the meeting; they said more detailed timelines should be available after the April 22 site meeting.
