At its April 16 meeting the Oak Grove School District Board recorded a number of formal actions and roll-call votes across consent, resolution and construction items.
Key outcomes include:
- New associate superintendent of business services: After a closed-session appointment, the board voted unanimously to appoint Kyriel Branford (transcript spelling varies) as associate superintendent of business services / chief business officer, effective July 1, 2026. Branford addressed the board and thanked members for the approval.
- Resolution recognizing the Day of the Teacher (Resolution No. 15-47): Trustees adopted the resolution recognizing May 13, 2026 as the Day of the Teacher. Roll-call recorded unanimous approval after a motion from a trustee and a second.
- Consent agenda: The consent agenda was approved on roll-call with unanimous 'Aye' votes.
- Support for CSBA four-bill package: The board approved a letter of support for a CSBA legislative package aimed at closing the achievement gap, with a roll-call motion carried (unanimous 'Aye' votes recorded in the transcript).
- Best-value procurement procedures: Trustees authorized staff to use best-value procurement procedures as an option for construction projects estimated at $1,000,000 or more, allowing the district to weigh qualifications, bonding and experience in addition to price. The resolution passed on a roll-call vote.
- Herman Intermediate change order: The board approved a change order to increase the project contingency by $350,000 (the original contract was $13.2 million with a contingency of $810,000) to cover unforeseen fire-alarm, sprinkler and electrical upgrades to keep the project on schedule.
- Classroom furniture modernization: The board approved furniture procurement and installation quotes for several modernization sites (Baldwin Elementary and other sites) after questions about labor and logistics; staff said they would stage deliveries and coordinate installations over the summer.
- Delegate assembly runoff: The board selected Elizabeth Holiday as the district’s delegate for the CSBA runoff election by roll-call vote.
Most motions were moved and seconded on the record and passed by roll-call. Where roll call was recorded, the transcript lists the responding members and shows unanimous approval in those votes.
