Council members noted a confusing sentence in the MOU’s first-page signature paragraph that referenced funding; members agreed to reword the line to make clear the fire department is funding certain items from its tax base. Council also reviewed language that addresses a trigger point for joint responsibilities and agreed the wording is acceptable as drafted or should be placed in the correct section of responsibilities.
A motion to approve the memorandum was moved and seconded; the council recorded its approval and directed staff to finalize the final text and obtain signatures. The clerk said Ron (surname provided in the roll call) and another signatory would sign the finalized MOU.
Next steps: staff will correct the minor typographical issues, incorporate the fire district’s suggested language and arrange for signatures.
