The Scofield Town Council voted March 17 to hire Landis Productions to perform the Pleasant Valley Days fireworks display on Friday, July 3, for $12,000.
Chair explained that the town had difficulty locating certified pyrotechnicians (pyros) for the originally planned date and that Landis Productions had located a pyro who could do the July 3 show. The chair said the previously approved $12,000 budget would largely maintain the prior year's level despite a reported 15–18% increase in fireworks costs.
A council member moved to schedule the Pleasant Valley Days fireworks for July 3; another council member seconded the motion. The council recorded a voice vote in favor ('Aye'). The transcript does not record an individual roll-call tally for that vote, only the unanimous voice approval.
Earlier in the meeting the council briefly discussed pre-contracting with Landis Productions for a 2027 fireworks show but tabled that item because the vendor said it would not know next year’s costs until after July 1. The council said it would revisit contracting for 2027 after the vendor provides pricing.
The chair instructed staff to execute the $12,000 contract for the July 3 show and to continue outreach for certified pyrotechnicians for future events. The council did not specify additional public-safety conditions or insurance requirements in the transcript.
