Council approves amendment to Pioneer Park lease to allow T‑Mobile collocation

The Brigham City Council on April 16 approved an amendment to the city's land lease with Verizon Wireless for the cell tower at Pioneer Park, allowing T‑Mobile to collocate equipment on the existing structure.

Tom Cotter, the community development director, told the council the change requires a slightly larger equipment pad — roughly 12 by 13 feet — to accommodate the co‑location. “T Mobile is just collocating on Verizon structure,” Cotter said, noting the amendment is to Verizon’s existing lease and that the rent rate for the added footprint would remain the same.

Council members asked clarifying questions about the physical changes; staff explained the enlarged pad will include a low retaining wall and fence because of the site’s grade. A motion to approve the amendment was made and passed by voice vote.

The council did not change other terms of the lease at this meeting; staff said the action was limited to the land‑lease amendment to enable co‑location and that Verizon remains the named lessee on the agreement. The council approved the amendment as presented.
