The Brigham City Council voted April 16 to approve a facade grant for 63 South Main — the historic Knudson Brothers building — to support restoration of covered storefront windows and other exterior work.
City staff told the council the building owner, Chad Greer, intends to restore the storefront to its historic appearance and has begun interior work on upper‑floor apartments. Staff described the façade program as a reimbursement grant capped at $10,000 and said the program matches private investment at 50¢ on the dollar. “The grant facade grant is capped at 10,000. That’s a reimbursement grant,” staff said during the presentation.
Staff recommended the full $10,000 reimbursement upon project completion. Council moved to approve the grant and the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff said the grant requires proof of payment before reimbursement and that council would be welcome to visit the property to review proposed changes. The owner’s total project budget presented to council was roughly $1,000,000; the city’s contribution under the program is limited to the $10,000 reimbursement.
Council did not attach additional conditions beyond the program’s standard reimbursement and documentation requirements.
