Depot manager agrees to seek later delivery times after early-morning noise complaints

The Town of Babylon Zoning Board of Appeals heard a routine renewal application from Arismendi Polanco, depot manager for Nucoy Elisi, and discussed neighborhood complaints about deliveries at very early hours.

Polanco said the operation has been at the site since 2021 and that the business typically receives deliveries about twice a week. He described the fill operation for CO2 as generating a spray-type noise that can take up to an hour for large deliveries; he acknowledged that some large trucks arrive early from out of state and agreed to notify suppliers to avoid 3–4 a.m. arrivals where possible.

Board members asked whether drivers left engines running or whether fill operations could be muffled; Polanco said the trucks are not left running during fills and that the operation is generally brief. The board also confirmed the removal of an on-site storage shed (survey updated 2021) and moved to delete an obsolete variance. The hearing was closed and the board reserved decision; the applicant was asked to follow up with the zoning office about deliveries.
