General manager announces April 30 ribbon-cutting for Winter Haven recreation and cultural center

Yaheira Maes, general manager of the City of Winter Haven Recreation and Cultural Center, introduced herself and outlined plans for the new facility during a public presentation. She framed the project as more than a building, saying the center is intended to create "espacios especiales" that serve the community in tangible ways. "Este proyecto es ms que un edificio, es crear espacios especiales y servirle a nuestra comunidad en una manera muy real," Maes said, adding that she felt compelled to join the project because of its vision.

Maes highlighted community engagement and team-building as early successes: meeting residents, growing the staff and preparing programs. She said the center will offer spaces for youth, families and residents of all ages "para venir, mantenerse activos y ser parte de algo positivo," and described the facility as a welcoming place for the community.

She invited residents to the facility's public celebration, announcing a ribbon-cutting on April 30. Los esperamos," Maes said, and encouraged the public to tour the center and meet the team.
