City staff announces 60-day public review and May hearings for Lake Havasu general plan

City staff announced that the draft Lake Havasu general plan is in a 60-day public review period and urged residents to submit comments online and attend scheduled events.

Mister Gilbert told the Planning and Zoning Commission that the draft plan can be accessed at publicinput.com under the Lake Havasu general plan and that local radio public-service announcements are running to inform residents. Staff will hold a 'speak out' session on April 8 at 11 a.m. for questions and public input.

Under state law, the commission will hold an off-site first public hearing on May 6 at the Lake Havasu Unified School District Boardroom (Building C, 2200 Havasu Pai Boulevard) to satisfy off-site hearing requirements; a second hearing and action night on the general plan will be held at the commission's regular meeting location on May 20. Staff noted the May 6 off-site meeting will limit the agenda because of the site’s limited presentation capacity.

The announcement was presented as part of the correspondence and announcements portion of the commission’s meeting; staff encouraged residents to participate during the comment period that runs through April 18.
