The City of Socorro on April 16 approved master-plan resubmission and related plats for the Gateway Industrial development, clearing the way for further industrial development on land identified in Robert E. Nicks survey parcels.
City planning staff summarized the master-plan revision and the two replat/preliminary‑final plat requests. Gateway Industrial Unit 1 Replat A adds a row for additional truck parking on a 61.202‑acre site; Unit 2 preliminary and final plat covers about 72.23 acres and proposes six lots (including ponding areas and larger lots for two proposed logistics centers and a smaller site for a potential future filling station). The applicant’s representative was present to answer questions; staff and the Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval.
Council voted to approve the master-plan resubmission, Replat A and Unit 2 preliminary and final plat by voice votes. Staff noted the development schedule could result in completion by February 2028 for the second phase, and emphasized that approvals were consistent with zoning and P&Z recommendations.
Councilors and staff framed the items as part of larger area development and noted the approvals follow P&Z action on March 17.
