The Gunnison City Council approved multiple routine items during its regular meeting, including a low bid for weed-control services, irrigation water-lease awards and an amendment to the Johnson Valley Volunteer Fire Department interlocal cooperation agreement.
Procurement: The council accepted the low bid for weed-control services (reported low bid near $3,003) after staff presented three bids; one council member disclosed a conflict of interest and abstained from that vote. The council approved the recommended contractor.
Water leases: Bids for the 2026 irrigation season were presented and the council unanimously accepted the offers on the table, including Clark Bell's $4,500 offer for 36 shares and Diamond Farm's $8,500 offer for 112 acre-feet from the Sevier River.
Fire interlocal agreement: The council moved and approved Resolution 2026 (Johnson Valley Volunteer Fire Department Interlocal Agreement Amendment), the first amendment to the long-standing interlocal cooperation agreement originally referenced from 02/1959; council members praised staff work on the clarified language.
Landscaping/occupancy agreement: In one public-comment action, the council agreed to allow Ron Christiansen temporary occupancy provided he sign an agreement, provide receipts that demonstrate landscaping purchases, and complete exterior landscaping by June 1.
For each item the council either directed staff to proceed, accepted recommended awards, or approved amendments; minutes reflect final votes where recorded and abstentions where disclosed.
