The Delaware Senate unanimously adopted House Concurrent Resolution 112 on April 15 recognizing April as National Fair Housing Month and reaffirming the state’s commitment to fair and equitable housing.
Sponsor Senator Lachman said the resolution marks the 58th anniversary of the federal Fair Housing Act and the 57th anniversary of Delaware’s Fair Housing Act, and highlighted recent expansions of state protections including prohibitions on discrimination based on source of income. He told colleagues that rent for a two-bedroom unit has risen roughly 40% since 2019 and that many low-income renters now spend more than half their income on housing. The senator recognized a group of housing advocates present in the gallery.
A roll-call vote recorded 20 yes and 1 absent; the presiding officer declared HCR 112 passed and returned to the House.
