District technology staff told the board on April 13 they will submit three E‑Rate FY2027 applications to help cover internet, wide‑area network and internal network equipment costs.
For Category 1 (internet/WAN) the district requested $258,000; E‑Rate is expected to cover $232,200 (90%) with a $25,800 district share. For Category 2 Phase 3 the project total is $691,190 with E‑Rate covering $587,511 (approximately 85%) and a district share of $103,678.51. The board also approved a request to fund uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for $41,824.02 with an estimated $35,550.42 covered by E‑Rate.
A board member thanked staff for applying, noting the district would face a “huge hole” in the budget without the grants. All three E‑Rate applications were approved by unanimous vote.
Why it matters: E‑Rate funding reduces the district’s technology operating costs and helps maintain network reliability and lifecycle replacement of core equipment.
