Madison Parish Police Jury approves consent agenda, property sale ordinance and $500 Juneteenth donation

The Madison Parish Police Jury on April 14 approved routine business and several board actions including a property sale ordinance and a community donation.

The jury approved the consent agenda covering minutes and routine monthly reports. The Secretary/Treasurer was authorized to pay outstanding invoices based on available funds or as funds become available. Juror reports and a superintendent update were presented.

Juror Johnny Hughes moved, and Juror Dave Wilson seconded, to approve a Multi-Jurisdictional Consortium Agreement establishing Local Workforce Development Area #83 and authorized the president to sign the agreement; the motion carried.

Juror Jerry Hicks moved, seconded by Juror Dave Wilson, to adopt Ordinance 2025-01 authorizing the Madison Parish Police Jury to sell the property at 711 Van Zelfren; the parish attorney had approved the ordinance as to legal form and the motion carried.

The jury adopted a revised Driver Safety Policy as recommended by the insurance carrier (motion carried), and approved a $500 donation to support a Juneteenth event following a request presented at the meeting (motion carried). There was no discussion of correspondence recorded. Juror Johnny Hughes later moved to adjourn and the meeting ended.
