Buffalo County board approves payroll, reports and several administrative agreements

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners handled a series of routine administrative items during its April 14 meeting, approving payroll, financial reports, and several contracts and authorizations.

On a motion by Timothy Higgins, seconded by Ivan Klein, the board ratified April 3 payroll claims; the minutes list General Fund net payroll of $379,675.30, Road Fund net payroll of $69,218.42 and Weed Fund net payroll of $6,048.95. The board approved an early claim for State of Nebraska motor fuel fuels tax ($2,300) and accepted March reports from the County Clerk, Clerk of the District Court and County Treasurer.

The board approved the First Concord Benefits Group Flexible Benefits Plan 2026 Amendment (moved by Daniel Lynch, seconded by Timothy Higgins) and authorized the Fidlar Technologies Life Cycle Agreement, delegating signature authority to Register of Deeds Jennifer Schleusener. The board also authorized donation of surplus emergency light bar equipment and approved the manager application for Brenda Schroeder related to a Farmers Cooperative Association liquor license at 35885 Ravenna Road, Ravenna, Nebraska.

Bids for a County Health Benefit Consultant were read aloud (Wilson Partners; Holmes Murphy; Nebraska Association of County Officials; Gallagher Benefits Services; Caravus) and referred to the Human Resources/Insurance Committee for review with recommendations expected at the April 28 meeting.

Next steps: Committee review of benefit-consultant bids and staff follow-up on contracts and recording of approved items.
