The Redondo Beach Unified School District Board approved a contract with Team Civics LLC to assist staff with feasibility assessment, ballot-measure development and public information about a potential district bond or improvement measure.
Superintendent Doctor Wesley said the district lacks in-house expertise on running community engagement for a measure and had staff and district counsel review the agreement before the vote. Board members acknowledged the cost but said clarity of communications and professional guidance are important when asking the community for major investments.
Trustees noted that nearby districts have used the same firm, and staff said the agreement is time-limited and structured to stop if the board chooses not to move forward. One trustee suggested retroactive approvals are possible for reimbursements that would otherwise be blocked by timelines.
The motion to approve Team Civics' services passed after discussion; staff will proceed to begin outreach and feasibility work and report findings back to the board.
