County candidates visit Huntington council; council okays park sign refurbishment

David Sebring, who told the council he is running again for county commissioner, said he hopes to improve coordination between cities and the county and bring infrastructure and housing investments to the area. "I am filed to run for county commissioner again," Sebring said, adding his aim is to help lower property taxes by attracting brick‑and‑mortar investment.

Karen Richards introduced herself as a candidate for Emery County recorder, recounted 11 years of county employment across several offices and said she would prioritize fixing mapping and recording errors that delay property record updates. "I'm running for the Emery County recorder's office," Richards said, describing responsibilities she has held in commission and clerk‑auditor offices.

Separately, Councilmember Judd described a project to refurbish the park's weathered information sign. Volunteers — including a local boys' ward group — and a vendor, SignEdge, aided an AI‑assisted recreation of the sign; the council ordered a new sign that will be mounted inside park restrooms and asked volunteers to remove the old sign and help with installation.

Council members also used their reports to acknowledge community events (an Easter‑egg hunt and cleanup efforts near the lake), public works repairs and training activities for the fire department and other staff.
