The Gilroy Unified School District Board of Education recorded several formal actions at its May 23 meeting.
Closed-session report and expulsion: The board reported that during closed session it considered student discipline cases. For case 2024-31 a motion to expel was moved and seconded; the board voted and the motion “carried unanimously,” according to the meeting record.
Consent agenda and resolutions: The board approved multiple consent agendas (items from superintendent’s office, human resources, educational services and student services) by motion and recorded unanimous votes. The board also adopted Resolution 23-24-22 proclaiming May 19–25, 2024 as Classified School Employee Week; the resolution was read aloud and passed on a roll-call vote with affirmative responses from trustees present.
Personnel and waivers: The board approved a variable-term waiver allowing Ivory Trams to begin as Brownell Middle School assistant principal effective July 1 while she completes her administrative credential in August; Dr. Winslow presented the request and the board voted to approve the waiver.
Facilities and contracts: Facilities staff presented three items for facilities and maintenance: HVAC cleaning and repairs at Antonio Del Buono State Preschool (Environmental Systems Inc.), and two KI furniture purchases (transitional TK classroom at Glenview not to exceed $15,206.63 and classrooms at Del Buono not to exceed $86,157.42). Facilities staff estimated approximately $8–9 million in Measure E funds remain unallocated; the board approved the items 10a–10c unanimously.
