Board approves preschool buildout, roofing and HVAC contracts including a CalSHaPE‑funded HVAC upgrade

Facilities staff updated the board on projects across the district and the board approved several contracts and purchases.

The presentation described the relocation of a state preschool to an Antonio del Bueno site (new address given in the packet) and the outfitting of classrooms with adjustable furniture and early‑learning items. The board voted to approve procurement items for the preschool, including a refrigerator purchase not to exceed $4,903.69 and furniture installation contracts in the $3,000–$7,200 range.

Trustees also approved roofing projects at multiple sites (combined actions in the packet), a $155,940 contract for playground improvements at Glenview Elementary targeted at TK/K play spaces, hazardous‑materials testing at the Transportation and Facilities Building, and furniture purchases for a facilities maintenance trailer.

Facilities staff described a CalSHaPE grant‑funded project to upgrade Pelican HVAC controls and associated ventilation work; the agenda listed a contract for those controls not to exceed $985,140. Board members asked about playground demolition and reuse of existing equipment; staff said much of the existing play equipment cannot be safely repurposed and that new surfacing and a mix of pour‑in‑place and tanbark areas are planned.

All listed facilities items were approved by voice vote.
