The Redondo Beach Unified School District board approved two facilities actions: an engineering assessment of the Boerne Elementary retaining wall and a bid award to Williamson's Construction Company to install temporary restrooms at Madison and Washington elementary schools.
Dr. Alford said the Boerne retaining wall is significantly larger than similar walls in the district and recommended an engineering evaluation; trustees noted the school's age (around 70 years) and raised concerns about drainage and climate impacts on older walls. The board approved contracting DMC Engineering to perform the analysis and asked staff to return with findings and recommendations.
On temporary restrooms, staff said the district purchased units to be placed near kindergarten classrooms and playgrounds; the installation bid will prepare land and install the units. Trustees confirmed the district will own the temporary restrooms and that a future proposal for permanent restrooms will be presented later.
Both items passed following motions and trustee discussion; student advisory votes were recorded where routine.
